Lukiza Autism Foundation Shines at ICANTanzania 2023 Conference on Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders

The Lukiza Autism Foundation had the honor of participating as a Gold Sponsor at the ICANTanzania 2023 – International Conference for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam on December 2-3, 2023. This remarkable event, organized by Autism Connect in partnership with the Victorious Center of Excellence, brought together autism advocates, parents, experts, and professionals from across the region to share insights and drive positive change for individuals on the autism spectrum.

Representing the foundation and the autism community, our Founder and Executive Director, Ms. Hilda Nkabe, took to the stage as a speaker, sharing her experience and vision as both an autism mother and a dedicated advocate. Her powerful presentation, “How Autism Awareness Campaigns and Advocacy Are Bringing Positive Changes in Tanzania,” captivated attendees by highlighting the transformative impact that awareness and advocacy efforts have on families and communities across Tanzania. Ms. Nkabe’s insights shed light on the strides being made to enhance inclusivity, acceptance, and support systems for individuals with autism.

The Lukiza Autism Foundation was proud to set up a display booth at the conference, where we showcased our range of services, resources, and programs. This was also a great opportunity to connect with visitors about our mission, expand our network, and raise awareness about autism support services available in Tanzania. Additionally, we launched the registration for the Run 4 Autism Tanzania Half Marathon 2024—an annual event aimed at fostering community engagement and support. This inspiring run is set for April 28, 2024, at the Green Grounds in Dar es Salaam.

The ICANTanzania 2023 conference was a profound experience for the Lukiza Autism Foundation, reaffirming our commitment to advocacy, community engagement, and impactful support services. We look forward to continuing our journey alongside the inspiring individuals and organizations we connected with, as we all work together toward a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with autism in Tanzania.
