INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES WALKATHON

On 29th November, 2020, Lukiza Autism Foundation, partnered with Dr Reginald Mengi Persons with Disabilities Foundation to commemorate international day of persons with disabilities. This was marked by the Inclusive Charity Walkathon.
The theme for year 2020 was ‘Not all disabilities are visible’. DRMF partnered with TUSPO (Users and Survivors of Psychiatric Organisation), TAMH (Tanzania Association for Mentally Handicap), MEHATA (Mental Health Association of Tanzania) and initiative for Autism in Tanzania which included LUKIZA AUTISM FOUNDATION. Lukiza Autism Foundation participated for the purpose of educating the public on Autism.
This inclusive walkathon focused on raising awareness and understanding of disabilities that are not immediately apparent particularly mental illness and Autism.
Proceedings for this Walkathon facilitated the following
-Provide free counseling for mental health
-Provide free assessment for learning difficulties and cognitive dysfunctions
-Provide health education and medical check-ups related to prevention of disabilities.
Mental health disorders require routine medication. These necessary medications ensures that the patient continues to enjoy good mental health and is able to carry out his/her daily functions
